Burnett Heads is located at the southern mouth of the Burnett River and close to nearby Port Bundaberg. The two townships will soon be joined by a new traffic bridge which will create a magnificent tourism drive along the river.

Burnett Heads also features an enclosed boat harbour which is home to the Burnett Heads Marina, Air Sea Rescue facility and Blue Water Club. The surrounding rock wall is a favourite spot for local recreational fishermen while the wide multi-lane boat ramp caters for those venturing offshore to their favourite fishing site.

The local hotel/motel and caravan parks provide easily accessible accommodation and a small shopping centre caters for the day to day needs of the community and visitors.
