Port Bundaberg is located a short distance upstream from the mouth of the Burnett River and a proposed new traffic bridge will connect it with the neighbouring township of Burnett Heads. The busy port facility features a large sugar loading terminal and storage sheds and following the recent dredging of the river, it now caters for massive vessels from all over the world.

The other feature of the port is the magnificent Bundaberg Port Marina Complex with state of the art facilities and secure finger berths. The complex houses an excellent restaurant and chandlery and is also the host for yachts arriving in the annual Port 2 Port event from New Caledonia.
